Amazon subsidiary Amazon Data Services India has acquired 10.6 acres of land in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region for around ₹125 crore, according to property registration documents. The acquisition is expected to support the company’s growing data centre and cloud infrastructure expansion plans in India.

The land parcel is located in the MMR region, one of India’s largest digital infrastructure hubs due to strong connectivity, enterprise demand, and proximity to financial institutions. Industry experts believe the move reflects rising demand for cloud computing, AI workloads, and digital storage capacity across the country.

Amazon Web Services has been steadily increasing investments in India as demand for artificial intelligence, data processing, and enterprise cloud services accelerates. The latest acquisition further strengthens Amazon’s long-term infrastructure presence in the Indian market.

The development also highlights increasing competition among global technology giants to expand hyperscale data centre capacity in India, especially in major hubs like Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
