Jeet Adani, executive director of the Adani Group, stressed that India needs to architect its own artificial intelligence infrastructure rather than depend on imports, warning that AI will reshape national sovereignty.

Three Pillars of Sovereignty: Energy, Compute, and Services
Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit, he outlined energy, compute and cloud, and services as the core pillars for India’s AI strategy. Energy security, he explained, underpins intelligence security, with renewable energy clusters integrated alongside AI data centres and industrial corridors to ensure resilience and competitive advantage.
Compute and Cloud Autonomy
Adani highlighted that cloud sovereignty is not about isolation but autonomy. Critical AI workloads must be hosted domestically to give startups, academia, defence, healthcare, and manufacturing access to high-performance computing. Concentrating intelligence infrastructure abroad creates national fragility, making domestic compute capacity a strategic necessity.
Services Sovereignty for an Indian-Centric AI Dividend
India’s AI efforts should primarily serve its citizens, boosting agriculture, education, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and financial inclusion. By controlling AI services domestically, the country can retain its productivity gains rather than letting the benefits accrue elsewhere.
Strategic AI and Renewable Integration
Adani recalled the Adani Group’s USD 100 billion commitment to build a sovereign, green-energy-powered AI platform, forming a 5-gigawatt, USD 250 billion integrated energy-and-compute ecosystem. This initiative aims to anchor India’s “Intelligence Revolution,” combining renewable energy, grid resilience, and hyperscale computing to ensure a secure, sovereign, and nationally scaled AI future.AI as a Sovereignty and Productivity Force
He concluded that India must choose whether to import intelligence or create it, consume productivity or generate it, and rely on external systems or build its own. AI, like electricity in previous industrial revolutions, will redefine the nation’s strategic and economic sovereignty.
