Chennai-based drone startup Garuda Aerospace has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to explore opportunities for supplying Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to the Indian Defence Forces, Central Police Organisations, and specialised security units.

Under the MoU, BEL will act as the Team Leader and Lead Bidder, while Garuda Aerospace will provide technology support and serve as the Teaming Partner.
The partnership aims to combine BEL’s expertise in defence electronics, system integration, and programme execution with Garuda Aerospace’s strengths in advanced drone design, manufacturing, and deployment.
A separate Teaming Agreement will be signed later to define binding terms, including scope of work and work-share allocation, based on customer requirements and procurement procedures.
Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and Director of Garuda Aerospace, said the company has a history of collaborating with defence and government agencies, contributing to national initiatives such as the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and Namo Didi programs.
He added that partnering with BEL will strengthen the defence ecosystem by combining BEL’s leadership in electronics and integration with Garuda’s operationally proven drone technology, enabling the delivery of scalable, mission-ready, fully indigenous UAS solutions for India’s security forces.
