In a first-of-its-kind development for India’s aerospace sector, the Adani Group has entered into a strategic partnership with Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer to build commercial fixed-wing aircraft in India. The collaboration, announced jointly by the two companies, aims to establish India as a manufacturing hub for regional jets and related aerospace systems, expanding the country’s footprint in the global civil aviation supply chain.
Under the agreement, Adani and Embraer will work together on design, production and assembly of regional jet aircraft suited for short-to-medium range passenger services. The venture is expected to create advanced manufacturing facilities, generate skilled jobs, and deepen technology transfer in aircraft engineering and certification processes.
Officials from both sides highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership in enhancing India’s aerospace ecosystem, contributing to import substitution and attracting foreign investment. By leveraging Embraer’s decades-long expertise in regional aircraft and Adani’s infrastructure and industrial scale, the collaboration could help reduce dependency on foreign imports for aircraft and components.
The move also signals confidence in India’s growing aviation market, which continues to expand rapidly in domestic and international travel. Analysts say the partnership may catalyse a new era of aircraft production in India, positioning the country as a key player in regional aircraft manufacturing and supporting broader goals of Make in India and strategic industrial diversification.
