Both leaders agreed to enhance initiatives in skill development, technology, and social welfare programs. India’s advances in digital governance were highlighted as a model for Sri Lanka, particularly for increasing transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in public administration.

The welfare of fishermen was another key focus, with both governments exploring measures to protect livelihoods and strengthen maritime cooperation. Education and women’s empowerment were also underlined as priority areas, with potential for joint programs and knowledge sharing.

Amarasuriya described her visit as an opportunity to “further increase and strengthen” India-Sri Lanka relations. The meeting underscores both nations’ commitment to working together on development, innovation, and regional stability.

The Prime Minister’s trip also included engagements at academic institutions, reflecting her focus on youth, governance reforms, and public service. She praised India’s progress in digital systems and highlighted the role of politics in driving meaningful social change, signaling a forward-looking agenda for cooperation between the two countries.

Overall, the visit and the talks with PM Modi represent a key step in reinforcing the bilateral partnership, with practical outcomes aimed at improving livelihoods, advancing governance, and boosting educational and technological collaboration.
