Who is the largest black pepper producer and exporter? 

Vietnam dominates global black pepper production and export, renowned for its high-quality, high-piperine content. It supplies 35% of the world's pepper.

Vietnam has come out as the leading producer of black pepper in the world, overtaking countries like India and Brazil. This essential spice is used in household kitchens around the world.  

Speciality of Vietnamese Pepper

Vietnamese pepper is known for its high piperine count, which is what gives it its spicy flavour, its high quality and export readiness.  It leads with production in  well-established farms mainly in the provinces of Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Binh Phuoc, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

How much pepper is annually produced?

Vietnam produces around 250,000 to 260,000 metric tonnes of pepper annually which makes for 35% of the world’s highest quality pepper. The country is not only the top producer but also the largest exporter of black pepper, supplying raw and processed pepper to over 100 countries, including the U.S, India and Germany. Varieties like Lampung, ASTA (American Spice Trade Association) grade pepper, and white pepper are commonly exported.

Which other countries produce pepper?
Apart from the top 5 countries of Vietnam, Brazil, Indonesia, India and China, other countries which produce pepper include Laos, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia.
