A new 67-km four-lane access-controlled road connecting Bandikui to Jaipur via the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is set to reduce travel time significantly. Built at a cost of ₹1,368 crore, this spur will undergo traffic trials starting mid-July, according to NHAI’s Rajasthan regional officer Pradeep Atri.
Travel Time Likely to Drop by an Hour
Currently, the journey from Delhi to Jaipur takes about 4 hours, with travellers spending 2.5 hours to reach Bandikui and another 1.5 hours to reach Jaipur. With the new Bandikui-Jaipur link, this travel time could reduce to approximately 3 hours. NHAI Manager Pushpendra Singh noted that the road was built in around 2.5 years and will help divert a large volume of traffic from the older Delhi-Jaipur highway.

Rajmargyatra App to Add Toll-Saving Feature
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will introduce a new feature in its Rajmargyatra app next month. This tool will allow motorists to compare toll costs across different routes and choose the most cost-effective path. The app already provides information on highways and includes a grievance redressal system.
Helps Choose Best Route with Least Toll
Amrit Singha, Chief Product Officer of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) at Indian Highways Management Company Ltd (IHMCL), explained how this new feature can help travellers pick toll-efficient routes. For instance, for a journey from Delhi to Lucknow, users can compare the tolls on three main routes: via Yamuna Expressway, Ghaziabad-Aligarh-Kanpur, or Moradabad-Bareilly-Sitapur.
Crackdown on Banned Vehicles on Expressways
Singha also raised concerns about banned vehicles, such as two- and three-wheelers, illegally using access-controlled expressways like Delhi-Gurgaon and Dwarka. Data from NHAI’s Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) revealed that between June 21 and June 23, 1.73 lakh violations were recorded, with over one lakh involving prohibited vehicles.
Boost to Road Infrastructure in Rajasthan
The new Bandikui-Jaipur stretch is expected to ease congestion on existing routes and contribute to more efficient connectivity between Delhi and Jaipur. The initiative reflects NHAI’s continued push to modernize road infrastructure and enhance commuter experience across the country.
