Akasa Air, India’s fast-growing low-cost airline, is set to begin international operations with a new direct service connecting Kochi and Jeddah. The inaugural flight is scheduled for June 29, marking the airline’s first step into international skies. This move aims to enhance affordable air travel between India and Saudi Arabia, especially for religious pilgrims, business travellers, and expatriates.
Four Weekly Flights to Jeddah
Initially, Akasa Air will operate four flights a week on the Kochi–Jeddah route. These flights will run on Saturdays, Mondays, and Sundays. The schedule includes:
- Saturday & Monday Flights
Departure from Kochi at 6:10 pm, arriving in Jeddah at 9:55 pm
Return from Jeddah at 6:45 am, landing in Kochi at 11:45 am - Sunday Flights
First flight departs Kochi at 3:00 am, arrives in Jeddah at 6:45 am
Returns from Jeddah at 7:45 am, reaching Kochi at 4:45 pm
Second flight departs Kochi at 8:30 pm, lands in Jeddah at 1:10 am next day
Returns from Jeddah at 10:10 am, arriving in Kochi at 6:45 pm
Initial Limited Service
On June 29 and July 6, the service will operate with only one flight. These flights will depart Kochi at 5:00 pm and reach Jeddah by 8:45 pm. The return leg will leave Jeddah at 9:45 pm and arrive in Kochi at 6:45 am.
More Sunday Flights from July 13
Responding to increasing demand, Akasa Air will add a second Sunday flight to its schedule starting July 13. This expansion reflects the airline’s commitment to meeting the needs of international travelers from Kerala.
Boeing 737 Max for Comfort and Affordability
All flights on the Kochi–Jeddah route will be operated using Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Each aircraft features 186 economy-class seats, offering passengers a comfortable and cost-effective flying experience.
Strengthening Global Presence
With this new route, Akasa Air is positioning itself as a serious contender in the international low-cost carrier segment. The Kochi–Jeddah flights are expected to serve the large expat community, religious pilgrims, and business travelers, strengthening ties between Kerala and Saudi Arabia.
