Tata Motors has introduced its first Euro VI-compliant bus in the Middle East, launching the LPO 1622 model in Qatar through its distributor Al Hamad Automobiles. The launch event took place in Doha on June 18, 2025, marking a significant step for Tata Motors in bringing advanced emission technology to the region.

Specifications and Features

The LPO 1622 bus is equipped with a Cummins ISBe 5.6L Euro VI engine, delivering 220 horsepower and 925 Nm of torque. Designed for staff transport, it is available in two seating capacities—61 and 65 passengers.

Standard safety features include:

  • Full air dual-circuit braking system with ABS
  • Electronic Stability Control
  • Hill Start Assist
  • Cruise Control

These features aim to improve passenger safety and driver comfort, aligning with international safety standards.

Strategic Importance of the Middle East

Asif Shamim, Head of International Business for Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, said the Middle East continues to be a strategic market for Tata Motors. He emphasized that Qatar is a key region, and this product launch is part of the company’s strategy to deliver high-efficiency vehicles tailored for the local market.

Support from Al Hamad Automobiles

Mohamed Yousef Al Mana, Chairman of Al Hamad Automobiles, highlighted the long-standing partnership between the two companies. He confirmed that after-sales support, including service and spare parts, will be readily available through the distributor’s nationwide network in Qatar.

Introduction of Updated Prima Truck Range

The event also featured the launch of an updated Prima series of Euro V-compliant heavy trucks. These include:

  • Prima 4040.K
  • Prima 4440.S
  • Prima 4040.T
  • Prima 6040.S

These trucks are designed to cater to Qatar’s growing infrastructure and construction needs.

Tata Motors’ Global Operations

Tata Motors operates in over 40 countries, manufacturing commercial vehicles from under 1 tonne to 60 tonnes and passenger vehicles from 9 to 71 seats. The company, part of the Tata Group, reported $44 billion in revenue and runs R&D centers in India, the UK, the US, Italy, and South Korea.

Al Hamad Automobiles’ Role in Qatar

Founded in 1998, Al Hamad Automobiles is part of the Al Mana Holding Group and represents multiple automotive brands in Qatar. Its partnership with Tata Motors plays a crucial role in expanding the reach of Tata’s commercial vehicle lineup across the region.
