Mumbai is set to introduce its first driverless pod taxi system in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), aimed at transforming last-mile connectivity in one of the city’s busiest business hubs.
The pods will be fully automated, electric, and designed to carry around six passengers, operating at speeds of up to 40 kmph on elevated tracks.

The project is expected to benefit 4–6 lakh daily commuters, significantly reducing congestion and travel time within BKC.
Planned as an 8.8 km network with multiple stations, the system will connect key locations like Bandra and Kurla railway stations, along with major commercial hubs.
A key feature is its on-demand, non-stop travel system, where pods will halt only at selected stations, making journeys faster and more efficient.
Integrated with metro lines and other public transport, the pod taxi system is expected to offer seamless, eco-friendly urban mobility, marking a major step forward in Mumbai’s infrastructure development.
