India has provided humanitarian aid to Afghanistan to help those affected by recent floods and an earthquake.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared on X that the assistance included kitchen sets, hygiene kits, plastic sheets, tarpaulins, sleeping bags, and other disaster relief supplies. He emphasized that India stands in solidarity with Afghanistan and is committed to offering support during this difficult time.
The natural disasters have claimed 35 lives and injured 52 people across 25 Afghan provinces over the past two days, according to TOLO News. Heavy rains and floods have destroyed 131 homes, partially damaged 650 others, and affected more than 3,000 jeribs of farmland, the National Disaster Management Authority reported.
Spokesperson Mohammad Yousuf Hamad said that an earthquake in multiple provinces—including Kabul, Panjshir, Logar, Nangarhar, Laghman, and Nuristan—killed nine people, injured four, destroyed five houses, and partially damaged 33 more.
Residents described severe losses from flooding, with many seeking urgent aid. Abdul Razaq said his family had to set up a makeshift shelter outdoors, but water had entered their home. Another resident, Agha Jan, called for immediate relief and better water management, while Khan Zaman noted that blocked channels had caused water to inundate homes and livestock shelters.
The disaster management authority confirmed that emergency aid is being distributed, and rescue teams have saved numerous people in affected areas.
Separately, Al Jazeera reported that an earthquake on Friday killed eight members of one family in Gosfand Dara, Kabul province. The 5.8-magnitude quake struck at 8:42 pm local time at a depth of 186 km, with the USGS locating the epicenter in Badakhshan province.
Afghanistan lies along the Hindu Kush, a seismically active region at the meeting point of the Eurasian and Indian plates. The country averages about 560 earthquake-related deaths each year.
