Billionaire Elon Musk joined a phone call earlier this week between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, the New York Times reported.
The call, held on Tuesday, was the first direct conversation between Modi and Trump since the US and Israel carried out military strikes on Iran on February 28. The discussion focused on the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

According to the New York Times, Musk’s participation—confirmed by two unnamed US officials—was unusual, as private citizens rarely join conversations between two heads of state during a wartime crisis. His presence also suggests that Musk and Trump may be on better terms than they were following a falling out last year, when Musk stepped away from a government role tasked with workforce reductions.
The White House described the conversation as productive. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told PTI that “President Trump has a great relationship with Prime Minister Modi, and this was a productive conversation.” It remains unclear why Musk was included in the call or whether he spoke during the discussion.
During the call, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, secure, and accessible, calling it vital for global peace, stability, and economic well-being.
This conversation marked the first direct contact between the two leaders since the West Asia conflict began.
