Aditya Dhar’s latest film, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has brought him back into the spotlight, not only for its box office success but also for the journey that led him here. Despite a limited release, the sequel has generated impressive revenue and reignited interest in Dhar’s career and earnings. Reports from The Financial Express estimate that Dhar and his wife, actor Yami Gautam, have a combined net worth exceeding USD 12 million (over ₹100 crore), with Dhar reportedly charging between ₹8–10 crore per film.

Dhar’s early years were spent in Delhi, where he studied at Guru Harkrishnan Public School and later Hindu College. His interest in theatre and storytelling began in college, leading him to Mumbai in 2006 to work across various film roles, from assisting on sets to writing lyrics and scripts for films such as Kabul Express, Haal-e-Dil, Daddy Cool, Aakrosh, and Tezz.
Despite this groundwork, Dhar’s directorial debut faced delays and challenges. His first film, Boond (2009), did little to establish him, and his debut was postponed multiple times before Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) became his breakthrough. Dhar has spoken about struggles with dyslexia, academic challenges, and professional setbacks, including losing scripts to others who turned them into successful films. Support from mentors like Robin Bhatt, Priyadarshan, and his brother Lokesh Dhar helped him persevere.
Uri emerged after a pivot from a shelved project in 2016, inspired by the news of the surgical strikes. Dhar invested six months in research and wrote the screenplay in 12 days. The film earned ₹358 crore globally, marking a turning point in his career. Following this, he co-founded B62 Studios with his brother, producing films like Article 370 and Baramulla, with Dhurandhar surpassing ₹800 crore worldwide. Across just two directorial projects, Dhar’s films have now earned over ₹1,200 crore globally.
On the personal front, Dhar married Yami Gautam in June 2021, and they welcomed their son Vedavid in May 2024. The couple owns properties in Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh, along with luxury cars including BMW and Audi models.
