Prime Minister Narendra Modi has virtually flagged off the new train service between Palakkad and Pollachi, marking an important step toward strengthening regional rail connectivity in southern India.

The new railway service is expected to make travel easier for thousands of passengers who frequently commute between the two states for work, education and trade. For many residents in the border regions, the service has been a long-standing demand.
Railway authorities noted that the train will help improve connectivity between smaller towns and major economic centres in both Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It is also expected to support local businesses, agricultural trade and tourism in the region.
The Palakkad–Pollachi rail link forms part of broader efforts to modernise and expand India’s railway network while improving cross-state connectivity and regional mobility.
