Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a crucial Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting tonight in New Delhi upon his return from a two-day tour across several states, including Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The high-level meeting was convened against the backdrop of escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia, particularly following coordinated United States and Israeli strikes on Iran, which have intensified regional conflict and raised global security concerns.

Government sources say Modi arrived in Delhi around 9:30 pm before presiding over the CCS discussion, which included top ministers such as the Defence, Home, External Affairs and Finance ministers.

The agenda was expected to assess evolving developments in the Middle East, evaluate the security of nearly 10 million Indians living in the region, and consider potential impacts on India’s energy security and strategic interests.

The CCS, the apex decision-making body on national security and strategic matters, plays a key role in guiding India’s response to complex defence and foreign policy challenges. The meeting comes at a sensitive time as global leaders monitor shifts in regional dynamics and work to safeguard national and expatriate interests.
