Global automotive supplier Webasto has announced plans to establish its third manufacturing facility in India. The new plant, located in the Delhi region, is expected to start operations in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Expansion Driven by Local Demand
The announcement came during a visit by Joerg Buchheim, CEO of Webasto Group, to Webasto Roofsystems India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of the group. The company cited growing domestic demand for sunroof systems as a key reason for the expansion.
Strategic Location and Capacity
Situated between Manesar and Kharkhoda in North India, the facility will serve the northern automotive corridor and strengthen Webasto India’s production and supply capabilities. The plant is expected to support an annual capacity of approximately 500,000 units.
Serving India’s Automotive Clusters
With this addition, Webasto now operates plants in Pune, Chennai, and the new Delhi region, covering all major automotive clusters in the country. The total local production capacity across these facilities will reach around two million units annually. Vikas Prasad, President of Webasto India, highlighted that the expanded presence will improve customer responsiveness and create employment opportunities.
Investment in Talent and Growth
Webasto is also investing in talent development across all its Indian locations to support its continued growth. CEO Joerg Buchheim emphasized that the new plant underscores India’s importance to Webasto’s global operations and its pivotal role in shaping the future of mobility.
Commitment to the Indian Market
The new plant marks a long-term commitment to India. Since 2019, Webasto has invested more than 110 million euros in the country, with plans to increase total investment to 174 million euros by 2030. The expansion reflects the company’s strategy to strengthen local production while serving India’s diverse automotive market efficiently.
