Kochi has been named one of the Top 10 Trending Destinations for 2026 in the annual Travel Predictions released by Booking.com, highlighting the coastal city’s growing popularity among global travelers. The city features alongside international hotspots like Mui Ne in Vietnam and Port Douglas, reflecting its unique mix of historic charm, scenic backwaters, and evolving urban experiences.

Booking.com’s data for the first half of 2026 (January–June) shows Kochi ranked among the top 10 most-searched Indian destinations by travelers worldwide, with a 30 percent year-on-year increase in search interest. The city’s appeal spans spiritual wellness, nature-focused tourism, and cultural heritage, attracting a diverse range of visitors. At the state level, Kerala also saw a 40 percent rise in searches, making it the third most-searched state in India.
Travelers are increasingly opting for alternative accommodations in Kochi. Holiday homes and guest houses are now the most popular choices after hotels, followed by villas and homestays, reflecting a shift toward more personalized and immersive travel experiences.

For travelers from the Asia-Pacific region, Kochi is rapidly becoming a top choice, featuring prominently in searches from countries including Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Booking.com’s data shows noticeable growth in interest from both group and solo travelers, helping Kerala climb from fifth to fourth among the most-searched states in India by APAC travelers during H1 2026.
Kochi’s appeal is also growing among domestic tourists, with the city ranking among the top 12 most-searched leisure destinations in India for domestic trips during the first half of 2026.
