Under the AVSAR scheme, a new outlet managed by local women’s self-help groups was also opened, showcasing GI-tagged Kovai Kora Cotton garments and promoting regional artisans on a global platform.
The airport also introduced a dedicated children’s play area and a ‘Flybrary’ for travelers.
Minister Naidu announced that ₹2,100 crore has been allocated for the airport’s comprehensive expansion, with completion targeted by 2028. The upgraded international terminal is expected to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
