Ola Electric announced on Friday that it will reduce approximately 5% of its workforce as part of an ongoing restructuring effort aimed at building a leaner and more efficient organization.

The company said it continues to focus on business turnaround efforts, emphasizing faster service through its Hyperservice platform. Over 80% of service requests are now resolved on the same day nationwide, and the company is increasing automation across its front-end operations to improve speed and discipline.
“As part of this structural transformation, around 5% of our employees will be affected,” Ola Electric stated. “Our goal remains to enhance customer experience while positioning the company for long-term, profitable growth.”
Sales Pressure and Previous Job Cuts
Ola Electric, which has yet to post a profit, faced declining sales during much of fiscal 2026. Competitors such as Ather Energy and established players including TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto have gained market share.
The company had previously conducted a round of job cuts in March 2025, reflecting ongoing efforts to streamline operations.
Deepak Rastogi Appointed New CFO
Following the resignation of Harish Abichandani, Ola Electric appointed Deepak Rastogi as its new Chief Financial Officer. The board approved Rastogi’s appointment on January 19, 2026, and he assumed the role the next day, taking on responsibilities as key managerial and senior management personnel.
Abichandani stepped down citing personal reasons, with his resignation effective from January 19, 2026.
Ola Shakti Receives BIS Certification
On January 16, Ola Electric received certification and a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for its Ola Shakti residential Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The system, powered by a 6kW/9.1 kWh battery pack using the 4680 Bharat Cell, is the first residential BESS designed, engineered, and manufactured entirely in India.
The certification process included extensive safety and performance tests, covering electrical and mechanical safety, fire and thermal protection, shock prevention, environmental stress, and other regulatory requirements.
“With BIS certification, we are ready to deliver our first residential BESS units,” a company spokesperson said. “Ola Shakti provides reliable, affordable, and smart energy storage solutions for homes, farms, and businesses, supporting India’s journey toward energy self-reliance and clean, decentralized power.”
Ola Electric emphasized that Ola Shakti offers automotive-grade safety, high efficiency, and zero running or maintenance costs, positioning it as a key part of India’s clean energy transition.
