Adani Group and Brazilian aerospace major Embraer have announced a strategic collaboration to establish a regional aircraft manufacturing facility in India, marking a major step forward for the country’s indigenous aviation and aerospace ambitions.

Focus on Regional Connectivity
With India emerging as one of the world’s fastest-growing civil aviation markets, the partnership aims to strengthen air connectivity to Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities by supporting the production of regional transport aircraft tailored to domestic needs.
MoU Signed in New Delhi
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Adani Defence & Aerospace and Embraer at an event hosted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in New Delhi. The collaboration will cover the manufacturing of Embraer’s regional transport aircraft in India.
Final Assembly Line Planned
As part of the agreement, the two companies will set up a Final Assembly Line in India for Embraer’s regional aircraft, which typically have seating capacities of up to 150 passengers.
Strategic Entry into Aircraft Manufacturing
Adani Defence & Aerospace Director Jeet Adani said the collaboration represents the group’s entry into aircraft manufacturing in India, building on Adani’s growing footprint in the aviation sector.
Technology Transfer and Skill Development
Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha highlighted that the partnership goes beyond aircraft assembly. It will involve progressive technology transfer, workforce skilling, development of a strong supply chain, and efforts to position India as a trusted global hub for regional aircraft manufacturing.
Location and Investment Details Awaited
While specific investment figures and the final location of the facility have not been disclosed, Jeet Adani confirmed that multiple sites are under consideration and decisions are expected in the coming months.
Strong Policy Backing
Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu said the timing is ideal for such a collaboration, noting India’s manufacturing momentum and long-term growth potential. He added that demand for regional transport aircraft is at an all-time high and the initiative could also cater to the wider South Asian market.
Strategic Gains for Embraer
For Embraer, the venture is expected to strengthen its position in India’s civil aviation market by offering cost-competitive regional jets. The company has operated in India since 2005 and currently has nearly 50 aircraft serving defence, government, business, and commercial operators.
Long-Term Market Opportunity
According to Embraer, India is projected to need at least 500 aircraft in the 80 to 146 seat category over the next 20 years, underscoring the long-term potential of the collaboration and its role in advancing India’s self-reliance in aerospace manufacturing.
