On the eve of India’s 77th Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation, honoring citizens from every walk of life for their contributions to the country’s growth and unity. She recognized the efforts of artists, craftsmen, sanitation workers, entrepreneurs, teachers, scientists, and the Armed Forces, describing them as the backbone of the nation’s progress.

Highlighting India’s role as a messenger of peace, the President recalled the country’s spiritual and civilizational heritage, emphasizing harmony and the need for global peace. Quoting social reformer Shree Narayana Guru, she called for fraternity beyond caste and creed and noted efforts to reconnect sacred sites with public consciousness while addressing lingering colonial mindsets.
On economic integration, President Murmu hailed the implementation of GST as a milestone that has strengthened the concept of ‘One Nation, One Market’ and underlined reforms to further boost the economy. She also lauded Operation Sindoor as a landmark achievement in India’s journey toward self-reliance in defense.
The President celebrated the contributions of youth, women, and overseas Indians, noting that their talents, participation in governance, and achievements in education, sports, and entrepreneurship strengthen India’s republic. She highlighted initiatives such as Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana as empowering citizens and creating inclusive progress.
Paying tribute to India’s security forces, she commended the vigilance of the Armed Forces, police, and Central Armed Police Forces in safeguarding the nation. She also emphasized cultural pride, marking the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram and honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for unifying the country.
President Murmu’s address, broadcast nationwide on Akashvani and Doordarshan in multiple languages, celebrated the Constitution as the foundation of the world’s largest republic and highlighted the shared responsibilities of citizens in sustaining its democratic ideals. She concluded by extending heartfelt greetings on Republic Day, calling on all to contribute to the nation’s bright and inclusive future.
