Kannur airport has expanded its international reach with the launch of faster connecting services to London Heathrow, easing long-haul travel for passengers from north Kerala and nearby regions. IndiGo and Air India Express have started coordinated connections through major Indian hubs, reducing transit complexity and overall travel time.

Air India Express has introduced a daily Kannur to London Heathrow connection via Bengaluru. The Kannur–Bengaluru flight departs at 10.15 am and lands at 11.25 am, allowing passengers to connect to Air India’s wide body service to London, which departs at 2.10 pm and arrives at Heathrow at 7.30 pm. On the return leg, the flight leaves London at 9.05 pm, reaches Bengaluru at 12.20 pm the next day, and connects to Kannur the following morning.
IndiGo will begin Kannur–London Heathrow connectivity via Delhi from February 6, operating four days a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The flight departs Kannur at 6.05 am, arrives in Delhi at 8.55 am, and connects to the Delhi–London wide body service leaving at 11.55 am and reaching Heathrow at 5.10 pm. The return service departs London at 7.10 pm, arrives in Delhi at 10.10 am the next day, and connects to Kannur by midnight.
Airport officials said the new services offer improved comfort with better seating, in-flight facilities and higher baggage allowances, while eliminating the need for multiple international transits. The enhanced connectivity is expected to benefit NRIs, business travellers, students and tourists, while also supporting inbound tourism to Kannur and surrounding areas.
