The Government of India has received an invitation from the U.S. President Donald Trump to join the proposed “Board of Peace” initiative focused on Gaza, according to reports citing official and diplomatic sources. The invitation was conveyed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor, highlighting Washington’s interest in involving key global partners in efforts to support stability and peace in the region.

Trump’s concept for the Board of Peace forms part of a broader diplomatic push linked to a 20-point ceasefire and reconstruction roadmap for Gaza, which has seen endorsement through a U.N. Security Council resolution. The proposed board is envisaged as an international body comprising world leaders and representatives tasked with overseeing post-war governance, reconstruction efforts and long-term stability measures in Gaza.
Under the draft plans, permanent membership on the Trump-led board could entail a USD 1 billion contribution, while shorter, three-year terms may be secured without such financial commitments. Funds raised through the initiative are expected to support rebuilding infrastructure and administrative systems in war-affected Gaza.
The invitation underscores India’s evolving global diplomatic role, particularly given its strategic relationships in the Middle East, its historic support for humanitarian assistance to Palestinians, and its positioning as a potential mediator in complex geopolitical contexts.
The initiative has sparked international discussion, with opinions differing on its structure, mandate and the implications of joining such a body outside traditional U.N. frameworks.
