Colonel Sanjeev Nair (Retd.), who had been leading Technopark, one of the state’s flagship IT hubs, has stepped down after three years of commendable service dedicated to the park’s long-term growth and development. Technopark, with over 35 years of legacy, is one of India’s largest IT parks, and under his leadership, it saw significant structural strengthening and planning for the next phase of expansion.
During his tenure, he oversaw major initiatives including collaboration with Quad, Kerala Space Park, the Emerging Tech Hub, Kerala Startup Mission, the Kerala Defence Innovation Zone (K-DIES), and Global Capability Centres (GCC), leaving his mark on several new projects.

Technopark grew to host 500 companies employing around 80,000 professionals. Software exports rose to ₹14,575 crore, and the park maintained a CRISIL A-plus (stable) rating for the fourth consecutive year—an important milestone. Several global firms, including Accenture, HCL, Arch Capital Group, Equifax, Vistion, Nissan Digital, Alliance, Safin, Carstack, Guidehouse, Armad, Nest Digital, and Experion Technologies, either started operations or expanded under his leadership, reflecting Technopark’s steady market growth.
He also guided temporary agreements with firms like Al Marsouki, Highlight Group, and Gritstone Technologies, and implemented smart initiatives covering energy efficiency, water management, solar power, EV charging, and community engagement. His efforts helped position Thiruvananthapuram as a hub for global GCCs.
Colonel Nair introduced key governance and policy reforms and drafted a long-term master plan for Technopark Phase-4 (Technocity), spanning 390 acres and envisioned as the state’s next major IT destination. The plan includes creating a strong infrastructure base to support IT Global Capability Centres, R&D, emerging technologies, and specialized sectors.
Strategic zones within Technocity have been planned for the MSME Technology Centre, Digital Science Park, Emerging Tech Hub (KSUM), Kerala Space Park, Central Forensic Science Laboratory, GCC/IT Cluster, and specialized technology areas such as AI, advanced computing, semiconductors, cybersecurity, space and defense technology, and the Unity Mall.
