Wayanad-based deep-tech start-up NeuBiom Labs has unveiled Canopy, a “Coffee Crop Intelligence” platform designed to give coffee growers and industry stakeholders detailed, plot-level insights into crop health and productivity. The launch took place during the centenary celebrations of the Central Coffee Research Institute (CCRI) in Bengaluru, with the platform jointly released by M J Dinesh, Chairman of the Coffee Board, and Kurma Rao M, CEO & Secretary of the Coffee Board.

Canopy leverages satellite imagery, artificial intelligence, and hyperlocal data to digitize the coffee value chain and enhance climate resilience. By creating a “digital twin” of each plantation, the platform allows growers to monitor crop health remotely, forecast risks, optimize input use, and adapt to changing weather patterns. This ensures even small farms can maintain yields and profitability despite rising climate uncertainties.
Priced at just ₹2,999 per year for a full crop cycle, Canopy aims to make enterprise-grade technology affordable and accessible to all coffee growers. Beyond farm-level decision support, the platform also provides farmer-producer organizations and cooperatives with real-time visibility into yield potential across multiple holdings. Traceability is a major focus, helping Indian coffee meet stricter sustainability and origin standards in global markets, particularly in Europe.
“With Canopy, our goal is to reduce risk for smallholder farmers while ensuring the production of high-quality, traceable coffee that meets domestic and global standards,” said Sooraj K Babu, CEO and founder of NeuBiom Labs. A second-generation coffee planter with research expertise in human-centric AI, Sooraj leads the mission to make transformative technology accessible to India’s smallholder coffee growers.
NeuBiom Labs is incubated at the Atal Incubation Centre, CCRI, Bengaluru, and supported by Google for Startups India, the Wadhwani Foundation, and Kerala Startup Mission. The platform was formally unveiled in the presence of industry leaders including Praveen HJ, CEO of AIC-CCRI, and Dr Sooraj Krishna, CTO of NeuBiom Labs, highlighting its potential to revolutionize coffee farming across India.
Canopy is expected to not only improve farm-level decision-making but also strengthen the competitiveness of Indian coffee in global markets, paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient coffee industry.
