Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower has achieved a major construction milestone, having reached 80 floors as it continues its climb toward the heavens. Once completed, the tower is expected to surpass the Burj Khalifa in Dubai as the world’s tallest building, redefining global architectural records and symbolising the Gulf’s ambition in engineering and urban transformation.
Situated in the port city of Jeddah, the megatall skyscraper is designed to exceed 1 kilometre (3,281 feet) in height, challenging the current height benchmark set by the Burj Khalifa. The project has attracted international attention both for its scale and its technological complexity, requiring advanced construction techniques and structural innovations to ensure stability at extreme elevation.
Despite periods of slower progress due to logistical challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic, the tower’s construction has steadily moved forward. Reaching the 80-floor milestone reflects renewed momentum in the project, which forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader economic diversification and urban development strategy.
When finished, Jeddah Tower will not only break height records but also house luxury residences, hotel space, observation decks, and commercial facilities, creating a mixed-use vertical community that integrates business, tourism, and high-end living.
