Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries Limited, has entered India’s pet-care sector with the launch of Waggies, a new brand of pet food designed to provide science-backed nutrition that is both high-quality and affordable for pet owners across the country.

The company aims to deliver global standards at accessible prices, offering complete and balanced nutrition without putting a strain on household budgets. The Waggies range promises value-driven pricing while ensuring pets receive wholesome, superior nutrition. Reports suggest the brand will be priced 20–50% lower than existing competitors such as Nestle, Mars, Godrej Consumer Products, and Emami, following Reliance’s broader strategy of making high-quality products widely accessible.

The Waggies portfolio features science-led formulations enriched with herbs, DHA for brain development, essential vitamins, and easily digestible ingredients to promote overall health, energy, and well-being. Ketan Mody, Executive Director of RCPL, emphasized that the brand balances enhanced nutrition with affordability, providing extra protein, prebiotics for digestive support, and benefits for joints, skin, and coat health.

The philosophy behind Waggies, “From Few Households to Many,” reflects the company’s mission to make nutritious pet food widely available. Starting at Rs 199 per kg, the range is designed for broad adoption, with smaller 100g packs priced at Rs 20 for trial. Waggies Pro, a premium variant, begins at Rs 249.

The launch coincides with rapid growth in India’s pet-care market, fueled by rising pet ownership and greater focus on pet health. Redseer Strategy Consultants projects the market to double to $7 billion by 2028, up from $3.5 billion today, with pet numbers rising to 32 million in 2024 from 26 million in 2019. Premiumisation and subscription-based services, including regular delivery of food, grooming, and healthcare products, are emerging as key growth drivers.

RCPL aims to bridge the gap between premium pet care and everyday affordability, positioning Waggies as a go-to choice for Indian pet owners seeking quality nutrition without a high cost.
