The UAE has introduced the B 250 light attack aircraft, the country’s first combat platform designed and built entirely by Emirati engineers. The aircraft made its public debut at the Dubai Airshow 2025 and reflects the nation’s ambition to lead the region in advanced aviation technology.

A Major Moment at the Dubai Airshow
Calidus Holding Group presented the B 250 at Dubai World Central during the ongoing Dubai Airshow. The aircraft arrives after a successful maiden flight and completion of all core testing programs. Dr. Khalifa Murad Alblooshi, Managing Director and CEO of Calidus, said the launch represents a major step for the country’s defence sector and reinforces the UAE’s goal of becoming a global center for next generation aviation systems.
A Multi Role Aircraft Built for Modern Missions
The B 250 is designed to handle a wide range of missions. It can support close air operations and counterinsurgency roles, carry out intelligence and surveillance tasks, and serve as a platform for both basic and advanced pilot training. Its carbon fibre airframe keeps the aircraft lightweight and strong, and its onboard systems include advanced avionics, mission controls, secure communications, and self protection suites. It carries seven external stores and features an EO IR gimbal for precise targeting.
Performance and Technical Capability
The aircraft is powered by a Pratt and Whitney PT6A 68 engine delivering 1600 SHP. It can reach speeds of up to 301 knots, remain airborne for as long as 12 hours, and fly as far as 2400 nautical miles depending on configuration. It operates at altitudes up to 30000 feet and supports an external payload capacity of 1800 kilograms. The cockpit is pressurized and equipped with an onboard oxygen generation system.
Weapons and Operational Flexibility
The B 250 is ready for a full range of modern weapons including smart missiles, laser guided bombs, and conventional munitions. It is built for quick turnaround after landing, even on rough airstrips, giving it strong operational flexibility in demanding environments.
Calidus Expands Its Aviation Lineup
Beyond the B 250, Calidus continues to develop advanced platforms that strengthen the UAE’s aviation capabilities. These include the B 250T trainer aircraft and the WX 80, which is used for cloud seeding and weather research. Together, these programs highlight the country’s increasing ability to design and produce sophisticated aircraft that meet both national defence needs and international standards.
