Andhra Pradesh has pushed forward its electric mobility plans with a new MoU signed at the Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam on November 18, 2025. The agreement brings together a consortium led by ThunderPlus, joined by ETO Motors and Roqit, working with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board on a ₹515-crore multi-modal electric mobility and charging infrastructure programme.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu endorsed the deal in the presence of Industries and Commerce Minister TG Bharath. He reviewed the consortium’s roadmap during the event and promised quick approvals and government backing to speed up execution.
The initiative is expected to create more than 5,000 jobs, with 1,450 direct roles and 3,100 indirect opportunities. It also builds space for women-led employment across fleet operations, charging station management, customer support and mobility coordination.
ThunderPlus will lead the rollout of the state’s charging network. The plan includes 120 kW chargers every 25 kilometres and 1 MW ultra-fast chargers every 100 kilometres along major routes. The company already operates a 3 MW hub in Vijayawada and 0.5 MW stations in Nellajarla and Visakhapatnam, and is working on electrifying the Visakhapatnam–Chennai Industrial Corridor.
Implementation will start in two clusters: the Amaravati Capital Region, covering Gannavaram Airport, Vijayawada, Amaravati and Guntur; and the Visakhapatnam Urban Region, including NAD Junction, Pendurty, Simhachalam and Dwarakanagar. These zones will form the first operational routes for the state’s multi-modal EV shuttle network.
The consortium’s broader plan ties together EV manufacturing, city and intercity transport, a statewide charging backbone and a unified digital ticketing system. Roqit will build the single-ticket platform to connect multiple modes of travel through one app.
Rajeev YSR, CEO of ThunderPlus Solutions, said the partnership aims to position Andhra Pradesh as a leader in clean mobility. Nirmal Reddy, CEO of ETO Motors, noted that the focus remains on creating a dependable urban transport system for residents.
To deliver the programme, the consortium will work closely with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, municipal bodies, transport authorities and industrial corridor agencies across the state.
