Godrej’s aerospace division announced on Thursday that it has delivered the first human-rated L110 stage Vikas engine to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the Gaganyaan project. The engine will power India’s crewed spacecraft, marking a significant step in the country’s human spaceflight program.

Upcoming Gaganyaan Test Flights
ISRO plans the first uncrewed test flight early next year, with the goal of sending the first Indian astronauts into orbit aboard a home-built rocket in 2027. The mission will use the human-rated LVM-3 rocket to carry the crew module safely into orbit and back to Earth.
Strengthening Long-Term Partnerships
Maneck Behramkamdin, Executive Vice President and Business Head of Godrej Enterprises Group’s Aerospace business, said the delivery highlights the company’s long-standing collaboration with ISRO and the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC). He emphasized that Godrej’s contributions demonstrate its ability to provide mission-critical technology that reinforces India’s leadership in space exploration.
Decades of Contribution to India’s Space Program
For over forty years, Godrej has supplied high-precision engines and components for major missions, including Chandrayaan and NISAR. The company said this achievement is not only a milestone for Godrej but also a matter of national pride, reflecting both honour and responsibility in supporting India’s first human spaceflight initiative.
