India’s two-wheeler market is set to enter a new phase of green mobility as the country prepares for the launch of its first CNG-powered scooter next year. Expected to be introduced by TVS, this bi-fuel scooter brings a unique combination of petrol + CNG capability, offering extended range and ultra-low running costs, a major advantage amid rising fuel prices.
The scooter will reportedly be based on the TVS Jupiter 125 platform, featuring a 124.8cc engine, a 1.4 kg CNG tank under the seat, and a 2-litre petrol tank in the floorboard. This arrangement allows riders to switch between CNG and petrol seamlessly, delivering an estimated 84 km per kg in CNG mode and a combined range of around 226 km, ideal for urban commuting.
Features are expected to mirror the Jupiter lineup with LED lighting, digital display, USB charging, comfortable suspension, and trusted ride stability. While under-seat storage will reduce due to the CNG tank, the running cost savings could be significant, especially for regular commuters, delivery partners, and fleet owners.
With an estimated price range between ₹90,000 and ₹1,00,000, this scooter could become one of the most economical and eco-friendly choices in the market. The success of this launch will also depend on the availability and expansion of CNG refueling infrastructure across Indian cities.
If successful, this launch could open the door to a new category in India’s mobility ecosystem, cleaner, cost-effective two-wheeler transportation powered by CNG.
