The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is bringing a major upgrade to the Aadhaar system, making updates faster, simpler, and fully digital. Starting November 1, 2025, Aadhaar holders will be able to update their name, address, date of birth, and mobile number online without visiting physical Aadhaar Seva Kendras or filling out paperwork.

What’s changing from November 2025
UIDAI has announced a set of new rules designed to make the Aadhaar process smoother and more user-friendly. Here’s a quick look:
Rule 1: Easy online updates
From November 1, you can update personal details such as your name, address, date of birth, and contact number directly through the official Aadhaar portal. The new system verifies data automatically using linked government records like PAN or passport, which means fewer document uploads and no in-person visits.
However, biometric updates (fingerprints, iris scans, or photos) will still need to be done at authorized Aadhaar Seva Kendras.
Rule 2: New update fees
UIDAI has introduced a revised fee structure.
- Demographic changes: ₹75
- Biometric updates: ₹125
Online document updates will continue to be free until June 14, 2026, after which the same fees will apply.
Children aged 5–7 and 15–17 years can still get biometric updates for free.
Rule 3: Aadhaar-PAN linking now mandatory
Aadhaar must be linked with PAN by December 31, 2025, or the PAN will be deactivated starting January 1, 2026. New PAN applicants will also need Aadhaar verification during registration.
Banks and financial institutions will use faster e-KYC methods like OTP, video verification, or in-person Aadhaar confirmation for smoother identity checks.
