Construction on the 238-kilometre Hafeet Rail network, connecting Suhar in Oman with Abu Dhabi in the UAE, is moving forward at a steady pace.

Project Overview and Completion
Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail, told the Global Rail 2025 conference in Abu Dhabi that the project is over 50 percent complete and nearing its final stages. Hafeet Rail is part of the broader GCC Railway initiative and is a joint venture between Etihad Rail, Mubadala, and Oman’s Asyad Group.
Strategic Air–Rail Partnership
At Global Rail 2025, Hafeet Rail and Abu Dhabi Airports announced a partnership to link Al Ain International Airport with the Hafeet Rail network. This will create the first air–rail corridor connecting Oman and the UAE, enhancing regional mobility, trade, and economic cooperation.
Intermodal Logistics with Asyad
Hafeet Rail signed an agreement with Asyad Logistics to provide seamless intermodal container transport between Oman and the UAE. The integrated service will cover freight transport, port operations, customs clearance, cargo consolidation, and last-mile delivery, streamlining the supply chain along the railway corridor.
First Shipment of Railway Tracks
Hafeet Rail recently received its first shipment of railway tracks at the General Cargo Terminal in Sohar Port and Freezone, managed by C. Steinweg Oman LLC. According to Asyad Group, this milestone marks a key step in linking Oman with the UAE and preparing for the next phase of on-ground construction.
