India’s Richest People in 2025

The 2025 M3M Hurun India Rich List features 1,687 wealthy individuals across 91 cities, highlighting rising fortunes in tech, pharmaceuticals, and industrial sectors, with 358 billionaires including young entrepreneurs and self-made business leaders, reflecting India’s growing global economic influence.

M3M and Hurun India released the 14th edition of the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2025, showcasing the wealthiest Indians worldwide. This year, 1,687 individuals from 91 cities made the list with fortunes exceeding ₹1,000 crore. Among them, 1,004 saw their wealth rise or remain steady, including 284 newcomers, while 643 experienced a decline. India now has 358 billionaires, up 24 from last year, with the pharmaceutical sector leading the rankings with 137 entries.

Global Presence of Indian Wealth

The list includes 1,586 individuals residing in India, followed by 48 in the USA, 22 in the UAE, and smaller numbers in the UK, Cyprus, Singapore, Canada, China, and other countries.

  • L.N. Mittal & family – ₹1,75,390 Cr (London)
  • Jay Chaudhry – ₹1,46,470 Cr (San Jose)
  • Anil Agarwal & family – ₹1,11,400 Cr (London)
  • Shapoor Pallonji Mistry & family – ₹88,650 Cr (Monaco)
  • Sri Prakash Lohia – ₹87,700 Cr (London)
  • Vivek Chaand Sehgal & family – ₹57,060 Cr (Melbourne)
  • Jayshree Ullal – ₹50,170 Cr (San Francisco)
  • Yusuff Ali MA – ₹46,300 Cr (Abu Dhabi)
  • Rakesh Gangwal & family – ₹42,790 Cr (Miami)

US: A Growing Hub for Indian Entrepreneurs

Among Non-Resident Indians, the United States is home to 48 wealthy individuals, particularly from tech, aviation, and finance. Jay Chaudhry, founder of Zscaler, leads the US list with ₹1.46 lakh crore, having seen a significant wealth jump in 2025. Jayshree Ullal, CEO of Arista Networks, has a fortune of ₹50,170 crore, making her one of the most successful Indian-origin women in global tech. Rakesh Gangwal, co-founder of IndiGo Airlines, resides in Miami with ₹42,790 crore.

Wealth Trends and Young Billionaires

Anas Rahman Junaid, founder of Hurun India, highlighted that the total wealth of India’s richest has risen to ₹167 lakh crore. Key sectors driving growth include technology, industrial products, automobiles, infrastructure, jewellery, and real estate. Sixty-six percent of the list are self-made, with 74% of new entrants being first-generation entrepreneurs.

The list also reflects a shift toward deep-tech and product-led businesses. The youngest billionaire is 31-year-old Aravind Srinivas, founder of Perplexity, while Zepto co-founders Kaivalya Vohra (22) and Aadit Palicha (23) also gained recognition for rapid wealth creation.

Cities Leading in Billionaires

Mumbai continues to dominate with 451 billionaires, followed by Bengaluru (116), Hyderabad (102), Chennai (94), and Pune (66). Over the past decade, the entry threshold has dropped from ₹1,800 crore to ₹1,000 crore, enabling wealthy individuals from smaller towns to feature on the list.
