Air India Bolsters Delhi–London Route
Air India has announced an upgrade to its Delhi (DEL) – London Heathrow (LHR) route, adding a fourth daily flight for the Northern Winter 2025/26 season (26 October 2025 to 28 March 2026). Previously slated for three daily services, the fourth frequency reflects strong passenger demand on this premium international corridor.

Fleet Deployment & Mix
The additional service will be served using a combination of Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. This mix allows Air India to balance capacity, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort on one of its most competitive long-haul routes.
Schedule Highlights
The revamped schedule includes four departures daily from Delhi to Heathrow:
- Two flights on the A350-900
- Two flights on the B787-9
Each flight’s timing is structured to optimize connections, convenience, and aircraft utilisation.
Strategic Significance
This move strengthens Air India’s presence in the India–UK market, one of its busiest and most lucrative international corridors. It positions the carrier more aggressively against competitors like British Airways and Virgin Atlantic by offering greater frequency and flexibility.
Connectivity & Cargo
Beyond passenger service, the expanded schedule also enhances cargo capacity between India and the UK, critical for trade, e-commerce, and supply chain flows. The added flight frequency gives Air India more slots for cargo lifting in both directions.
Fleet Modernisation & Network Strategy
The decision aligns with Air India’s broader fleet modernisation and network expansion goals. Deploying modern widebodies like the A350 and maintaining a dynamic mix ensures the airline can deploy capacity where needed while managing costs and improving service levels.
