New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, who was in Kochi to attend the Business Partnership Summit, took time to explore Lulu Mall in Edappally. Invited by Lulu Group Chairman M. A. Yusuff Ali, the Governor and his wife Tammy Murphy enjoyed Kerala’s rich culinary traditions and cultural variety during their visit.
A Warm Welcome
The couple was received by Yusuff Ali, Lulu Group India CEO M. A. Nishad, and Lulu Kochi Director Sadiq Kasim. At the atrium, Murphy and his wife were given a buggy ride around the mall, with Yusuff Ali himself in the driver’s seat, an unusual and memorable sight for shoppers who gathered around. Accompanying them were Lulu Group International Director Mohammed Altaf and senior officials from New Jersey.
Exploring the Hypermarket
Governor Murphy toured the Lulu Hypermarket, where he observed a wide range of products sourced from across the world. From daily essentials to fresh produce, he examined the displays closely. The American products section caught the attention of Tammy Murphy, who was delighted to spot items imported directly from New Jersey. The Governor and his wife also visited the apple stall, where they tasted fresh American apples before continuing their tour.
Beyond Shopping
Their visit included stops at Lulu Funtura and other key attractions inside the mall. The couple experienced first-hand why Lulu Mall is considered India’s largest shopping destination.
Praise for Kerala’s Food Culture
Concluding his visit, Governor Murphy highlighted his appreciation for Kerala’s diverse food culture and extended praise for the experience at Lulu Mall. The trip also underscored his long-standing friendship with Yusuff Ali and his support for Lulu Group’s operations in New Jersey.
