Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Monday that he is switching to Zoho, India’s homegrown office productivity platform. The move underscores his endorsement of domestic technology solutions and aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swadeshi call.

Vaishnaw shared the news on his official X account, urging citizens to favor indigenous products over foreign alternatives:
“I am moving to Zoho — our own Swadeshi platform for documents, spreadsheets & presentations. I urge all to join PM Narendra Modi’s call for Swadeshi by adopting domestic products and services.”
Zoho’s Response
Zoho CEO Sridhar Vembu welcomed the minister’s support, describing it as a morale boost for his team. “Thank you, Sir. This is a huge encouragement for our engineers who have worked for over two decades to build our product suite. We will make you proud and make our nation proud. Jai Hind,” Vembu said.
Promoting Digital Self-Reliance
Vaishnaw’s move reflects India’s broader push toward technological self-sufficiency. The government aims to reduce reliance on international tech providers while strengthening domestic capabilities, a strategy reinforced by PM Modi in recent communications encouraging citizens to support locally made products.
During Navratri, the Prime Minister highlighted the nationwide “GST Bachat Utsav” festival, tied to next-generation GST reforms. Modi emphasized that purchasing domestic goods helps families earn livelihoods, creates jobs for youth, and strengthens the national economy, connecting these actions to his long-term vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
