The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), part of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport, has rolled out the emirate’s first pilot programme for autonomous delivery vehicles. The project is a collaboration with K2 and EMX, the logistics arm of 7X, under the supervision of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC). Abu Dhabi has also issued its first official licence plate for a self-driving delivery vehicle.

Smart Logistics Milestone
The autonomous “Auto-Delivery” vehicles, developed by K2 subsidiary Autogo, use AI-powered systems and smart mobility technology to navigate city streets and deliver goods without human intervention. Trial operations in Masdar City mark an important step toward broader commercial deployment across Abu Dhabi. The initiative aligns with ITC’s role in regulating autonomous vehicles and supports the emirate’s 2040 vision of having 25 per cent of all trips made via smart transport solutions, building on earlier milestones like autonomous taxis.
Supporting Sustainability and Innovation
Introducing autonomous delivery vehicles is expected to enhance smart logistics, reduce traffic congestion, lower carbon emissions, and improve customer experience. Dr. Abdulla Hamad Al Ghfeli, Acting Director General of ITC, described the launch as “a pivotal milestone in Abu Dhabi’s journey toward a smart, sustainable transport system,” emphasizing that it is part of a broader strategy to strengthen urban mobility and quality of life.
Industry Collaboration
Tariq Al Wahedi, Group CEO of 7X, called the pilot a “strategic milestone toward next-generation smart logistics.” Through EMX, the company aims to build a faster, safer, adaptable, and sustainable logistics model that aligns with the UAE’s digital transformation and green economy goals.
Expansion Plans
Following the successful regulatory approval and trial in Masdar City, Autogo plans to expand operations to new partners and wider public areas, with full-scale commercial deployment expected in the coming months.
