Construction is progressing on Dubai’s first commercial vertiport near Dubai International Airport (DXB), set to handle up to 170,000 passengers annually. The Dubai International Vertiport (DXV) will serve as a dedicated hub for the takeoff, landing, and servicing of flying taxis, with operations planned to begin in early 2026.
Reem Al Saffar, acting senior director for air navigation and aerodromes at the General Civil Aviation Authority, confirmed that foundation work for the landing area is complete and parking facilities for the DXV building are currently under development.
In the initial phase, flying taxis will operate on fixed routes connecting four key locations: Dubai Airports, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, and Downtown. The first service route is expected to run between Dubai International Airport and Dubai Marina, reducing travel time from 45 minutes by road to just 12 minutes.
The DXV station is designed for 10 landings per hour and aims to provide a seamless urban air mobility experience. Regulations are in place to allow healthcare providers and other entities to convert existing helipads into vertipads, supporting wider adoption across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
U.S.-based companies Joby and Archer will launch electric air taxis in the UAE following approval from local regulators, marking a major step toward the country’s futuristic urban transportation vision.
