Registered Post Features Shift to Speed Post

India Post announces that from September 2025, Registered Post will be merged with Speed Post to provide customers faster delivery, real-time tracking, and secure services under one system.

From September 1, 2025, India Post has merged Registered Post with Speed Post. The aim is to streamline services under one framework and make things easier for customers.

India Post merges Registered and Speed Post

Security + Speed in One Service

Customers will now get the reliability and security of Registered Post, along with the speed and real-time tracking features of Speed Post.

Tracking Features

Earlier, Registered Post only offered basic tracking. Under the new system, customers will have access to real-time online tracking, SMS updates, and faster query resolution.

Delivery Changes

  • Proof of Delivery will now be an optional, paid add-on (₹10 per article).
  • Signature-based delivery will be provided only if specifically requested.
  • Speed Post’s quick delivery (usually 1–3 days) will remain unchanged.

Charges

  • Registered Post tariffs are discontinued. Charges will now follow the Speed Post structure (based on weight and distance).
  • Proof of Delivery, if required, will cost an additional ₹10 per article.
  • Services like Acknowledgement Due, earlier included in Registered Post, will now be available only on request.
