Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (Udupi-CSL), a subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited, launched the third vessel in its ongoing series of six general cargo ships for Norway-based Wilson ASA. The launch ceremony was held in Udupi on Saturday, led by District Deputy Commissioner T.K. Swaroopa.
The vessel measures 89.43 metres in length, 13.2 metres in breadth, and has a draft of 4.2 metres.

Design and Sustainability
According to Udupi-CSL, the ship has been designed by Conoship International of the Netherlands. Built as a diesel-electric vessel, it has been tailored to meet environmental standards while transporting general cargo in European coastal waters.
Series Deliveries
The first ship in the series, Wilson Eco I, was delivered on April 23, 2025, and is already in service in Europe. The second vessel, Wilson Eco II, is scheduled for delivery on September 11.
Wilson ASA Fleet
Wilson ASA, headquartered in Bergen, Norway, is among Europe’s leading short sea fleet operators. The company moves around 15 million tonnes of dry cargo annually and operates a fleet of about 130 vessels ranging from 1,500 to 8,500 DWT.
The Norwegian company has also placed a follow-on order with Udupi-CSL for eight 6,300 TDW dry cargo vessels.
Growing Order Book at Udupi-CSL
Since its takeover by Cochin Shipyard Limited, Udupi-CSL has delivered two 62T and 70T Bollard Pull Tugs to Indian tug operators. The yard is currently working on 12 additional 70T Bollard Pull Tugs at different stages of construction.
