In a high-profile cultural collaboration, Visit Qatar has launched a long-term partnership with the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai to deepen ties with Indian audiences and attract luxury travellers to the Gulf nation. The campaign kicked off with a gala event in Mumbai attended by top officials, celebrities, and cultural figures from both countries.

Key dignitaries included Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, and Mohammed bin Hassan Al Jaber, Qatar’s Ambassador to India. From India, the event saw the presence of Bollywood celebrities and noted Indian classical artist Rahul Sharma, who joined the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra during their first-ever performance in India.
The centrepiece of the partnership is a year-long immersive LED installation that transports visitors to four of Qatar’s iconic destinations:
- The Inland Sea
- The vibrant Souq Waqif
- The world-renowned Museum of Islamic Art
- The striking East-West/West-East sculpture by Richard Serra in Zekreet
Through surround sound, curated scents, and vivid visuals, the exhibit offers a sensory-rich experience that mimics stepping into Qatar itself. Visitors also receive custom postcards as keepsakes.
Themed “Confluence of Cultures”, the event also highlighted artistic and artisanal traditions from both nations. Indian crafts like pichwai painting and brass nakshi were showcased alongside Qatari sadu weaving and Arabic calligraphy, blending heritage with hospitality. A fusion dining experience capped off the evening.
This partnership is not just about promotion, it’s a strategic move to position Qatar as a top luxury destination for Indian travellers, who already represent a key inbound market. By hosting this initiative at India’s premier cultural hub, Qatar is tapping into a growing interest in experiential travel rooted in culture, wellness, and heritage.
With more such collaborative events in the pipeline, this long-term engagement aims to spark curiosity, increase tourism, and reinforce the shared values of hospitality and cultural pride between Qatar and India.
