Mahindra Aerostructures has secured a major contract from Airbus to manufacture and assemble the main fuselage of the H125 light single-engine helicopter in India. Under the agreement, the Bengaluru-based plant of Mahindra Aerostructures (MASPL) will handle production of the helicopter’s main fuselage.

MASPL stated that work on this important contract will start immediately, with the first fuselage expected to be delivered by 2027.
Anish Shah, Group CEO and MD of Mahindra Group, said the partnership reflects both companies’ commitment to India’s aerospace sector. “We are delighted to work with Airbus on its ‘Make in India’ plans. This contract strengthens our long-term partnership and highlights our shared role in developing India’s aerospace ecosystem,” Shah said. He also emphasized Mahindra’s commitment to supporting the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and expanding collaboration with Airbus.
The H125 is one of the world’s best-selling single-engine helicopters, valued for its strong performance, flexibility, and cost-efficiency. It is used in a variety of roles, including passenger transport, tourism, law enforcement, medical evacuations, rescue missions, and aerial work.
Earlier this year, Airbus signed a similar deal with Mahindra Aerostructures to produce the fuselage for its H130 helicopter. With the H125 and H130 contracts, India is now an important part of Airbus Helicopters’ global supply chain. Airbus says this partnership strengthens the country’s aerospace industry and contributes to the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Jürgen Westermeier, President and MD of Airbus in India and South Asia, said the contract demonstrates Airbus’ confidence in India as a key hub for aerospace manufacturing. “This H125 work package, along with our H130 partnership and the under-construction H125 final assembly line, shows that we are not just building helicopters in India, but creating an entire ecosystem that will support the growth of the rotorcraft market,” Westermeier said.
The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Currently, Airbus sources about $1.4 billion worth of aviation components and services from India each year.
With this new contract, Mahindra Aerostructures and Airbus are set to deepen their collaboration, boost India’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities, and strengthen the country’s role in the global helicopter market.
