The Ministry of Education has launched five free Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses on its SWAYAM platform, opening up advanced tech education to students from science, commerce, and management backgrounds. These courses aim to bridge the AI skills gap by offering hands-on training, practical applications, and real-world project experience to undergraduate learners.
As industries across the globe adopt AI and data-driven decision-making, the ministry’s initiative is designed to improve employability and ensure inclusive access to in-demand tech skills.

Course Highlights:
- AI/ML Using Python, which is a foundation course covering Python, statistics, data visualization, and machine learning basics. It is open to students with a high school math and programming background.
- Cricket Analytics with AI by IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, which combines sports and data science using Python. It is ideal for learners interested in sports analytics and real-time data applications.
- AI in Physics, which uses AI tools like neural networks to solve real-world physics problems. It features lab sessions and project-based learning.
- AI in Chemistry, which focuses on molecular property prediction, drug design, and reaction modeling with AI. It encourages hands-on work with datasets and Python.
- AI in Accounting, which is tailored for commerce and management students. It blends theoretical learning with lab-based application of AI in accounting processes.
Who Can Enrol?
Undergraduate students from any stream can enrol for the course, with no prior advanced technical expertise required. Courses include interactive labs, video lectures, and certification upon completion
Why It Matters:
Officials say the initiative is part of a broader vision to democratize AI education, prepare students for future-ready careers, and support India’s goal of becoming a digital-first economy. “These courses focus on practical learning and will help students across disciplines explore how AI can solve real-world problems,” a ministry spokesperson said.
Students can register for the courses through the official SWAYAM portal.
