In response to customer demand, Konkan Railway has extended the registration deadline for its Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) Car Transportation Service from Kolad to Nandgaon Road and Verna. Originally set to close on August 18, the new deadline for registration is now August 20, 5 p.m.
The Ro-Ro service, launched specially for Ganeshotsav 2025, allows private car owners to transport their vehicles by train between Mumbai and Goa, helping ease road congestion during the festive rush. This is the first time in India such a service has been introduced.

Konkan Railway has also announced the addition of a halt at Nandgaon Road station in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district, making it easier for passengers to load and unload cars at an additional, convenient point, responding directly to public feedback.
“This service reflects our commitment to improving travel convenience and supporting customer needs,” said Sunil B. Narkar, Chief Public Relations Officer, Konkan Railway.
