Nelco Limited, the Tata Group’s satellite communication arm, has entered into an agreement with Eutelsat to launch OneWeb low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite services across India. Working with OneWeb India Communications, Eutelsat’s local unit, Nelco will deliver secure, low-latency broadband for users on land, at sea, and in the air.
Nationwide Coverage Including Remote Areas
The service will cover India’s entire landmass, territorial waters, and hard-to-reach regions, making it possible to connect areas beyond the reach of traditional networks. It will support both government and enterprise needs, from critical communications to digital inclusion projects.

Boosting Digital Infrastructure and Security
According to Nelco, the rollout is designed to strengthen India’s digital backbone, enhance national security capabilities, and provide reliable connectivity in underserved regions. The company said it is ready to start offering services as soon as the OneWeb LEO network is commercially operational in India.
Leadership on the Partnership
P J Nath, MD & CEO of Nelco, called the agreement “a significant step” toward delivering high-speed, secure communications for vital sectors. He noted it aligns with Nelco’s plan to offer multi-orbit satellite connectivity solutions to advance India’s digital ecosystem.
Neha Idnani, Regional VP for APAC at Eutelsat and Director of OneWeb India, said the partnership deepens OneWeb’s presence in “one of the world’s most dynamic connectivity markets” and reaffirms its commitment to India’s digital and strategic objectives.
