Sun TV Network confirmed on Monday, August 11, that the legal notice issued against its promoter Kalanithi Maran has been “unconditionally and irrevocably” withdrawn by his younger brother, DMK MP and former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran. The company said the issues between the brothers have been resolved.
Background on the Dispute
In June, Dayanidhi Maran had served a legal notice to Kalanithi Maran, Sun TV chairperson Kavery Kalanithi, and six others over a dispute linked to share transactions from 2003. The move publicly highlighted tensions within the Maran family. Sun TV had denied all allegations at the time.

Mediation by DMK Leadership
Sources confirmed that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin played a role in brokering peace between the brothers. The Hindu had earlier reported that senior members of the DMK family were involved in recent mediation efforts to bring the matter to a close.
No Impact on Sun TV Operations
Sun TV reiterated that the legal dispute and its resolution were entirely personal matters concerning the promoter’s family and had no bearing on the company’s business, management, or daily operations. The company did not share details of the settlement.
