From humble beginnings in Kathmandu to building a ₹16,700 crore empire, Binod Chaudhary is Nepal’s first and only billionaire.
Best known as the man behind Wai Wai noodles, Chaudhary turned a simple idea into a global brand. Today, his Chaudhary Group runs over 80 companies across 30+ countries, managing luxury hotels, banking, real estate, and more.

Inspired by JRD Tata and Amitabh Bachchan, Chaudhary started young, giving up his CA dreams to save his family’s business. After a trip to Thailand, he introduced instant noodles to Nepal and India. The result? Wai Wai became a household name, rivaling giants like Maggi.

He later partnered with Tata Group to launch the Taj Jumeirah hotel in Dubai, and his hospitality arm now operates 143 properties globally.

Beyond business, Chaudhary is also known for his philanthropy, donating over ₹20 crore after the 2015 Nepal earthquake. He’s also an author and filmmaker, sharing lessons from his journey in his book “Making It Big.”
