Adani Enterprises has categorically denied any plans to collaborate with Chinese companies BYD or Beijing Welion New Energy Technology. The clarification came in response to a Bloomberg report published on August 4, 2025, which claimed the group was exploring a battery manufacturing partnership with BYD as part of its clean energy push.
In a statement released on Monday, Adani said, “We categorically deny Bloomberg’s report suggesting a tie-up between the Adani Group and Chinese companies BYD and Beijing Welion New Energy Technology. This report is baseless, inaccurate, and misleading.”

The Bloomberg report had suggested that Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani was personally involved in preliminary talks with BYD executives, aiming to establish a battery manufacturing venture in India. It also claimed that Adani was exploring similar deals with other Chinese renewable energy firms, including Beijing Welion.
The report further noted that the discussions, if any, would be routed through BYD’s subsidiaries in other countries due to diplomatic sensitivities between India and China. It cited anonymous sources claiming that Chinese firms currently hold the most advanced and cost-effective battery technologies, which Adani views as essential to its renewable energy plans.
Rejecting all such claims, Adani stated: “We are not exploring any form of collaboration with BYD for battery manufacturing in India, nor are we engaged in discussions with Beijing Welion New Energy Technology.”
The denial underscores the group’s position amid growing scrutiny of foreign collaborations in sensitive sectors, especially involving Chinese firms, due to geopolitical and security concerns.
