The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has finalized the toll rates for the 71-kilometre Karnataka stretch of the Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway, between Hedigenabele (near Hoskote) and Sundarapalya (near KGF).
Car and jeep users will be charged between ₹185 and ₹280, depending on direction and trip type. Light commercial vehicles and minibuses will pay up to ₹455, while heavy vehicles face tolls as high as ₹955.
Toll collection will begin soon after technical setup and coordination with district authorities. Though the road has been open unofficially for seven months, the expressway already includes four toll plazas and a 120 kmph speed limit.
Despite a ban on two-wheelers, many riders have been found entering illegally through fencing gaps, raising safety concerns. NHAI is now seeking approval to deploy home guards to address the issue. While the expressway promises faster travel to eastern Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, daily users continue to face bottlenecks near KR Pura, which reduces the overall time benefit of the highway.
